Did you know that American Sign Language (ASL) is the third most popular language in our country? It is the unique language used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals that has attracted the interest and admiration of hearing people. In fact, ASL is now offered as a foreign language in schools across the country.

ASL is a visual language with its own unique grammar and syntax. It is comprised of facial expression, body movement, palm orientation and location. The American Sign Language Connection ä and the Let's Sign Together ä program was formed in an effort to bring this rich and beautiful language of to people of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Studies have shown that signing with babies can help to reduce their frustration by enabling them to communicate their wants and needs prior to the development of speech.   In addition, children whom were signed to scored an average of 12 points higher on their standardized intelligence tests (see testimonials link).   Aside from the documented cognitive benefits, the social/emotional benefits are notable as well.   Children develop feelings of competency and self-esteem through self expression and the ability to connect with members of the Deaf community.
